Mumbai, March 25: IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust has completed the acquisition of Gujarat BESS Private Limited for an enterprise value of around ₹573 crore.

The deal has been executed with existing investors including British International Investment PLC and Norfund, following the operationalisation of the project, , the company said in a regulatory filing dated March 25, 2026.

The project operates under a build-own-operate model with a 12-year concession period and is expected to generate annual revenue of over ₹97 crore. That kind of visibility fits neatly into IndiGrid’s approach.

Stock Market Snapshot

IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust share price was at ₹165.00, down 0.30% as of 11:08 AM IST on March 25, 2026, according to exchange data.

The movement was narrow. The stock hovered between ₹164.82 and ₹166.00 through the session.

That kind of price action is typical here. IndiGrid is not a high-volatility stock. Investors usually look at yield, distributions and long-term cash flows rather than single announcements.

The IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust share price behaviour reflects that mindset.

Why Battery Storage Matters Now

As renewable energy capacity rises, variability becomes a challenge. Solar and wind do not always align with demand. That is where storage steps in.

Battery energy storage systems help smooth that gap. Store when supply is high. Release when needed.

For IndiGrid, this marks a gradual shift beyond transmission assets into broader energy transition infrastructure. It is not a pivot. More like an extension.

Revenue Model Stays Consistent

Even with a new asset type, the underlying model remains familiar.

The estimated ₹97 crore annual revenue gives a clear baseline. Over a 12-year period, that adds up to meaningful cash flow visibility, assuming stable operations.

That predictability is what typically anchors investor interest in infrastructure trusts.

Company Background

IndiGrid Infrastructure Trust owns and operates power transmission assets, with a focus on stable yield-generating infrastructure.

Over time, it has started expanding into adjacent areas linked to the evolving power ecosystem. Storage is one such area.

The strategy remains consistent. Build a portfolio where cash flows are visible, steady and distributable.

Conclusion

IndiGrid is slowly broadening its asset base, aligning with how the energy sector itself is evolving.

The market reaction, quiet and contained, reflects that understanding. This is not about immediate upside. It is about positioning for what comes next.
