New Delhi, October 23: Megaliter Varunaa, a startup focused on urban water management, has raised ₹15 crores from long-term institutional investors to scale up its operations and enhance its wastewater reuse technology.
Growth Supported By Robust Investor Confidence
The Hyderabad-based company, a subsidiary of Banka BioLoo Limited, stated that the fresh capital would support project development and expand its operations using the Megaliter Model, a zero-capex, subscription model to transform sewage treatment plants (STPs) into productive circular water utilities.
Emphasise Water Reuse And Circular Sustainability
Megaliter Varunaa operates a business model that enhances urban water resilience by maximising wastewater reuse while minimising the need for freshwater.
As stated by Managing Director Vishal Murarka, Megaliter Varunaa has treated more than 3 billion litres of wastewater to date, and is currently over 2.5 billion litres per year. In the following 12 months, it is prepared to scale to over 10 billion litres per year.
Supported By Brigade REAP
The startup is mentored through the Brigade REAP accelerator program, run by the Brigade Group, which supports sustainability-focused real estate and urban innovation startups. The program indicates that support from Brigade REAP is associated with access to mentoring and other resources. The startup has also developed market strategies intended to raise visibility for innovations that address real issues in cities.
This funding is an important step for Megaliter Varunaa as it continues to work on enabling circular, climate-resilient water systems for cities in India.
