Mumbai, April 8: Wipro Limited has issued 102,526 equity shares under its employee stock ownership plans.

The allotment includes 66,880 shares under the ADS Restricted Stock Unit Plan 2004 and 35,646 shares under the Restricted Stock Unit Plan 2007. These shares were issued on April 7, 2026, following the exercise of vested employee stock options, the company said in an exchange filing.

For large IT companies, ESOPs are not occasional events but a steady mechanism to retain talent and reward long-term contribution. Shares get issued as employees exercise their options.

Stock Market Snapshot

Wipro share price edged lower by 0.38% to ₹203.95 as of 10:36 AM IST on April 8, 2026.

The stock opened stronger at ₹207.70 but gradually lost ground through the session, touching a low of ₹203.01.

The Wipro Limited share price suggests investors see this as routine housekeeping rather than a value-altering event.

Dilution Impact Minimal In Larger Capital Context

In absolute terms, the number of shares allotted is small when set against Wipro’s total outstanding equity.

ESOPs serve a purpose beyond dilution. They align employee incentives with company performance. In a sector where talent is mobile and competition is intense, that alignment matters.

Business Context Remains Unchanged

Wipro Limited continues to operate as a global IT services and consulting company, with a focus on digital transformation, cloud, engineering and enterprise solutions.

The company’s operating performance, deal pipeline and client spending trends will continue to drive investor sentiment far more than incremental ESOP issuances.

Conclusion

The ESOP allotment is procedural. Expected. And largely uneventful in terms of financial impact. The slight dip in Wipro share price reflects a mechanical response to dilution, not a shift in fundamentals.
