Mumbai, April 1: Gallantt Ispat Ltd has received ₹233.55 crore as subsidy from the Uttar Pradesh government, providing a direct addition to its cash reserves.

The inflow comes under the state’s Infrastructure and Industrial Investment Policy frameworks notified in 2012 and 2017. The subsidy represents reimbursement of State Goods and Services Tax paid by the company, applicable up to June 2025, the company said in an exchange disclosure.

What stands out is how the company is choosing to use this money. Instead of routing it into expansion or debt reduction, Gallantt Ispat has parked the funds in fixed deposits with HDFC Bank. Including this amount, its total fixed deposit corpus has reached ₹300.01 crore.

The company also noted it is currently not relying on term loans or unsecured borrowings, indicating a relatively comfortable funding position.

Stock Market Snapshot

As of 11:57 IST on April 1, 2026, Gallantt Ispat share price was at ₹563.70, up ₹15.10 or 2.75% from the previous close of ₹548.60, according to exchange data.

The move suggests investors are factoring in the benefit of a non-dilutive, non-debt inflow. While the subsidy itself is not recurring income, the interest earned on fixed deposits and the absence of borrowing costs may support near-term financial stability.

Business Model And Operating Context

Gallantt Ispat operates as an integrated steel manufacturer with exposure across sponge iron, billets, rolling products and captive power generation.

Its structure allows partial insulation from input cost volatility, particularly through backward integration and internal power sourcing. That said, earnings remain sensitive to steel price cycles and infrastructure demand trends.

Government incentives such as GST-linked subsidies have historically played a role in improving project viability and capital efficiency for companies operating in this segment.

A Quiet But Meaningful Balance Sheet Event

This development does not alter the company’s operating trajectory overnight. However, it strengthens the balance sheet in a way that reduces financial risk.
