Mumbai, 17 October 2025: India is moving decisively to secure critical mineral supply chains, engaging in trade negotiations with Chile and Peru while boosting domestic exploration and supporting high-tech startups in rare earth recycling and processing, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal confirmed on Friday. The initiative targets copper, lithium, nickel, and cobalt, essential for electronics, defence manufacturing, electric vehicles, and advanced battery technologies.
