Nifty Dips Nearly 200 Points Amid April Expiry Volatility

Nifty closed lower at 23,996 after a volatile April expiry session, slipping despite a stable start. Sharp post-noon selling dragged benchmarks, led by banks, autos and IT.

Oil and Gas and metals outperformed with ONGC among top gainers. Midcaps and smallcaps edged higher while a weaker rupee and rising crude kept sentiment cautious.
