Asian Energy Services has won a ₹187.6 crore EPC contract from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation, marking its entry into state utility infrastructure projects and broadening its revenue base beyond coal-sector clients.

Mumbai, June 22: Asian Energy Services has secured a ₹187.6 crore engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract from Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd. (GSECL), a win that does more than add to its order book.
For years, most of the company’s project work has been tied to Coal India and its subsidiaries. This latest order signals a deliberate move into a broader customer base and gives Asian Energy an entry point into state utility infrastructure projects.
The contract involves the enhancement of a coal handling plant at the Ukai Thermal Power Station in Gujarat. The project will be executed on a lump-sum EPC basis and includes engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
Management expects the work to be completed over the next two to three years, providing a steady stream of execution opportunities and revenue visibility.
What stands out is not just the size of the contract but the identity of the customer. Diversifying beyond a handful of large clients is often viewed positively because it reduces dependence on any single sector or organisation. For Asian Energy, that appears to be the larger story behind the announcement.
Stock Market Snapshot
Investors responded positively to the development, pushing the stock higher during Monday’s session.
As of 15:08 IST on June 22, 2026, shares of Asian Energy Services were trading at ₹375.95, up ₹8.70 or 2.37%. The Asian Energy share price strengthened after the company disclosed the contract win, reflecting optimism around the addition of a new client category and the resulting order inflow.
Infrastructure and EPC companies are often judged by the quality and diversity of their order books as much as by the headline value of individual contracts. In that context, the GSECL order may carry significance beyond its ₹187.6 crore size.

From Coal Services To Broader Infrastructure Opportunities
Asian Energy has traditionally operated across energy and mining services, offering EPC, operations and maintenance, geological services and resource development solutions.
Its project portfolio has largely revolved around coal mining and related infrastructure. Over time, however, the company has sought to leverage those capabilities in adjacent sectors where engineering and project execution expertise can be applied.
The GSECL project fits into that strategy. It allows the company to showcase its execution capabilities in a utility-linked infrastructure project while potentially creating opportunities for similar assignments in the future.
Why Investors May Care
The order is unlikely to transform the company overnight. Yet it addresses a question investors often ask of infrastructure businesses: can they expand beyond their traditional customer base?
This contract suggests the answer may be yes.
A larger and more diversified client roster generally provides greater resilience during industry slowdowns and reduces concentration risk. If Asian Energy can successfully execute the Gujarat project and convert that experience into additional utility-sector opportunities, the long-term value of the order could extend well beyond the revenue it generates over the next few years.
For now, the win strengthens the company’s order pipeline and offers a glimpse of where management wants the business to go next.
