Regulatory Framework

Mutual funds operate under stringent compliance frameworks outlined by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), with ongoing disclosures mandated under SEBI (Mutual Funds) Regulations, 1996. These schemes remain compliant with relevant regulatory norms, ensuring investor protection and transparency.

Market Positioning & Strategic Outlook

The strong equity fund inflows reflect investors growing preference for Indian stocks. The preference is backed by the strong growth potential of Indian equities.

On the other hand, debt market outflows, notably in short-duration categories, indicate investors repositioning their portfolios amid changing interest rate dynamics and inflation concerns.

Fund houses continue launching targeted schemes in thematic sectors and hybrid segments to capitalize on investor appetite for diversified and risk-managed investment products.

About the Industry

India’s mutual fund industry manages total assets under management (AUM) of ₹72,19,610.69 crore as of May 31, 2025, demonstrating continued growth driven by strong retail and institutional participation across diverse schemes.
