The Central Government has announced an 8.25% interest rate on Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) deposits for 2024–25, the same as the last financial year. The move, which is applicable to over 7 crore salaried people in the country, is as per the recommendation of the Central Board of Trustees of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) that was made at the start of the current year.
Historical Interest Rates on EPF:
| Financial Year | Interest Rate |
|---|---|
| 2024–25 | 8.25% |
| 2023–24 | 8.25% |
| 2022–23 | 8.15% |
Apart from the rate approvals, EPFO also reached a major operational milestone by settling 2.16 crore auto-claims as of March 6, 2025, up from 89.52 lakh auto-settled claims during FY 2023–24. This move signals the Centre’s ongoing commitment to providing stable returns to EPF account holders while enhancing service efficiency through automation.
