HCLTech signed an MoU with the Odisha government for a 5,000-person Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar, while shares rose 1.17%.

Mumbai July, 24: HCLTech has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Odisha to establish a Global Technology Center in Bhubaneswar, expanding its delivery footprint as the technology company builds out its presence in the state.
The proposed centre will have capacity for 5,000 people and is expected to begin operations by 2028, the company said in an exchange disclosure on July 24, 2026.
HCLTech said the facility will focus on delivering AI-led digital solutions to global enterprises. It will complement the company’s proposed AI Data Center in the upcoming Odisha Sovereign AI Park, giving the group a broader technology and delivery base in the state.
The expansion also carries a local hiring component. HCLTech plans to tap next-generation technology skills in Odisha and work with educational institutions and the state government through structured programmes aimed at developing the local talent ecosystem.
Rahul Singh, COO, Corporate Functions at HCLTech, said the company sees Bhubaneswar developing into one of its key global innovation and delivery hubs.

The stock had a volatile start, climbing above ₹1,270 in early trade before giving up most of those gains. It briefly slipped below the previous reference level around mid-morning, but buying returned later in the session.
By early afternoon, the shares had recovered steadily and were trading close to the upper end of their late-morning range.

HCLTech Expands India Delivery And AI Infrastructure Footprint
HCLTech already employs more than 170,000 people in India, with technology campuses and centres across Noida, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Nagpur, Madurai, Vijayawada and GIFT City.
The Bhubaneswar facility adds another location to that network. More importantly, the proposed Global Technology Center and AI Data Center indicate a two-pronged expansion in Odisha, combining enterprise technology delivery with AI infrastructure.
Globally, HCLTech employs more than 223,000 people across 60 countries. Its operations span AI, digital, engineering, cloud and software services, serving industries including financial services, manufacturing, healthcare, telecom, retail and public services.
The company reported consolidated revenue of $14.8 billion for the 12 months ended June 2026.
Conclusion
HCLTech’s Odisha MoU sets out a sizeable capacity addition rather than an immediate operating expansion. The Global Technology Center is planned to accommodate 5,000 people and commence operations by 2028, alongside the company’s proposed AI Data Center in the state.
