RBI to Conduct ₹36,000 Crore Government Securities Auction on May 30

Mumbai, May 26, 2025: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that it will conduct an auction on May 30, 2025, for the re-issuance of two Government of India dated securities, aggregating to ₹36,000 crore. The settlement for this auction is scheduled for Monday, June 2, 2025.

In addition to the notified amounts, the Government retains the option to accept up to ₹2,000 crore in extra subscription for each security, depending on market response. The auction will be conducted via the RBI’s electronic platform, e-Kuber, using the multiple price method.
Bidding Schedule
- Non-competitive bids: 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
- Competitive bids: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
- ACU bids by Primary Dealers: 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Results Announcement: May 30, 2025 (same day)
- Settlement Date: June 2, 2025 (Monday)
Investors can begin participating in the “”When Issued”” trading segment for these securities from May 27 through May 30, 2025, ahead of formal allocation.
Additional Operational Details
- The minimum bid size is ₹10,000, and bids must be placed in multiples of this amount.
- Up to 5% of the total notified amount is reserved for eligible investors under the non-competitive bidding facility, available through the Retail Direct portal.
- Interest on these government securities will be paid semi-annually, unless otherwise specified.
- In accordance with current RBI guidelines, the instruments are eligible for both repurchase (repo) transactions and when issued trading.
This auction is part of the government’s broader strategy to manage its borrowing needs while offering secure and attractive investment avenues to both institutional and retail investors.
