The metal rose by ₹5 per gram, taking the retail price to ₹240 per gram, while 1 kg of silver is now priced at ₹2,40,000, up ₹5,000 from the previous session. Bangalore, August 05:  Silver prices in Bangalore finally broke out of their recent lull on August 5, posting their first meaningful gain in almost a week. The metal is now trading at ₹240 per gram, up ₹5 from Monday’s close, while the 1 kg rate has jumped to ₹2,40,000, reflecting a ₹5,000 increase.

The move wasn’t entirely unexpected. Gold prices rallied sharply during the day, and silver followed as improving global sentiment spilled over into the domestic bullion market. After several sessions of barely moving, today’s uptick suggests that buyers have started returning as international prices strengthen.

For someone purchasing a few grams of silver jewellery, the difference is relatively small. But for investors, bullion dealers and those buying larger quantities, today’s increase is far more noticeable.

What’s Driving Silver Prices Higher?

Today’s rise is largely a reflection of improving sentiment in the global precious metals market. Investors have once again shown interest in bullion amid uncertainty around interest rates and expectations that central banks could eventually move towards easier monetary policies.

Silver, however, doesn’t behave exactly like gold.

While both metals benefit during periods of economic uncertainty, silver also derives a significant portion of its demand from industry. It is widely used in solar panels, electric vehicles, consumer electronics, semiconductor manufacturing and medical equipment. That means its price responds not just to investor sentiment but also to changes in manufacturing activity and industrial demand.

On the domestic front, movements in the rupee against the US dollar, import costs and international spot prices continue to play a key role in determining local silver rates.

The price chart tells an interesting story. For most of the past week, silver barely moved, giving buyers little reason to rush purchases. Today’s gain has changed that picture. While a single session doesn’t confirm a sustained rally, it does indicate that the market has become more responsive to global cues again. Whether this momentum continues will largely depend on international bullion prices and upcoming macroeconomic data.

What Could Influence Silver Prices Next?

The direction of silver prices over the next few sessions will depend on several global and domestic developments, including:

  • International silver and gold prices
  • Industrial demand from the solar and electronics sectors
  • US Federal Reserve policy and interest-rate expectations
  • Inflation readings across major economies
  • Rupee-US dollar exchange rate
  • Investor flows into precious metals and Silver ETFs

Unlike gold, silver sits at the intersection of manufacturing and investing. That dual role often makes it more volatile, especially when economic expectations shift.

Conclusion

Silver prices in Bangalore rose to ₹240 per gram on August 5, bringing an end to nearly a week of stagnant trading. The increase mirrors the broader strength seen across precious metals and suggests that investor confidence has improved after several quiet sessions. Whether this develops into a sustained uptrend will depend on how global bullion markets and economic data evolve in the days ahead.
