Infosys has expanded its long-standing partnership with Finland’s Metsä Group to help modernise the forest products company’s IT operations using AI-led services.

Mumbai, August 5: Infosys Ltd. has broadened its strategic collaboration with Finland-based Metsä Group, taking on a wider role in the company’s AI-led IT transformation as enterprises increasingly look to modernise technology operations through automation and intelligent services.
Under the expanded engagement, Infosys will manage a broad range of Metsä Group’s IT functions, including application management, cloud operations, workplace services, on-site IT support and service desk operations across multiple locations worldwide.
At the heart of the transformation is Infosys Topaz Fabric, the company’s AI-first services platform, which will help embed generative AI and autonomous, agentic capabilities into Metsä Group’s day-to-day technology operations. Infosys said the platform is designed to improve service quality, shorten issue-resolution times and enhance operational efficiency while reducing costs.
The partnership builds on a relationship that has evolved over several years. As part of the latest phase, Infosys will also leverage automation, data-driven service management and AI-powered workflows to simplify IT operations and support Metsä Group’s broader digital transformation strategy.
Metsä Group, one of Europe’s largest forest industry companies, operates across pulp, paperboard, tissue, wood products and forest services, with annual sales of €5.8 billion in 2025 and a workforce of around 8,800 employees.
Stock Market Snapshot
Investors largely took the announcement in stride, with the stock finishing the session in
positive territory.
At close, Infosys share price was at ₹1,174.00, up ₹6.50, or 0.56%, on the NSE.
The company did not disclose the financial value or duration of the expanded engagement. As a result, the announcement is viewed more as a strategic client milestone that reinforces Infosys’ position in large-scale AI transformation programmes than as an immediate revenue trigger.

Company Background
Infosys is one of India’s largest IT services companies, providing consulting, cloud, digital transformation and engineering services to clients in more than 50 countries. The company has increasingly positioned its Topaz AI portfolio at the centre of enterprise transformation projects as businesses adopt generative AI and intelligent automation across their operations.
For Metsä Group, the expanded partnership reflects its continuing investment in digital technologies to improve productivity, simplify IT management and support future innovation across its global business.
Conclusion
The expanded mandate underscores how long-term outsourcing relationships are increasingly evolving into AI-driven transformation partnerships rather than traditional IT support contracts.
