Trom Industries secured a 10 MW rooftop solar project from South Bihar Power Distribution Company under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, expanding its presence in India’s fast-growing distributed solar market.

Mumbai, June 18: Trom Industries Ltd has received a purchase order from South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd (SBPDCL) to develop 10 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar capacity under the Centre’s PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana.
The project will be executed under the CAPEX-plus-RESCO model and covers 9,936 residential consumer installations of 1.1 kW each in Bihar’s Aurangabad circle, according to the company’s exchange filing.
Unlike conventional utility-scale solar projects concentrated at a single location, the order involves thousands of rooftop installations spread across households, making execution and deployment a key aspect of the contract.
The company said the project is to be completed within nine months from signing of the power purchase agreement.
Stock Market Snapshot
The order announcement failed to trigger significant movement in the stock during early trade.
As of 9:21 AM IST on June 18, Trom Industries share price was trading at ₹54.40, unchanged from the previous close.
The muted reaction suggests investors may be awaiting greater clarity on the financial value of the project, which was not disclosed in the filing. The company only stated that the aggregate project size is 10 MW.
Nevertheless, the contract adds another utility-backed assignment to Trom Industries’ solar portfolio at a time when state discoms are accelerating rooftop solar installations under the PM Surya Ghar programme.

PM Surya Ghar Driving Rooftop Solar Demand
Launched by the central government to promote household solar adoption, the PM Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana has created a fresh stream of opportunities for EPC contractors and solar developers.
State utilities are increasingly aggregating residential demand and awarding projects through the Utility-Led Aggregation model, allowing developers to deploy rooftop systems at scale rather than sourcing customers individually.
For Trom Industries, the Bihar order provides access to nearly 10,000 consumer connections through a single contract.
About Trom Industries
Trom Industries operates in the solar and engineering segment, undertaking rooftop solar and renewable energy projects for residential, commercial and institutional customers.
The company has been expanding its participation in government-backed solar programmes as rooftop installations emerge as one of the fastest-growing segments within India’s renewable energy market.
Conclusion
While the market reaction remained subdued, the Bihar order places Trom Industries in the middle of one of India’s largest residential solar initiatives. The focus now shifts from order wins to execution, with nearly 10,000 rooftop systems slated for deployment over the next nine months.
