Mumbai, 13 August 2025: Bharat Dynamics’ stock gained 6.90% today to close at Rs 1588.50. Broader Nifty 50 index ended the day today, up by 0.54%.

This, after the company reported a sharp year-on-year growth in revenue and net profit for the June quarter (Q1 FY26). The upbeat performance was driven by strong order execution and a healthy pipeline of defence projects.

Revenue Growth of 30% in Q1 FY26 Boosts Investor Sentiment

For the quarter ended 30 June 2025, Bharat Dynamics posted revenue from operations of ₹247.92 crore, up 29.69% from ₹191.16 crore in Q1 FY25. The growth was attributed to better order execution in missile and armament systems, supported by the ongoing demand under emergency procurement programmes.

Net Profit More Than Doubles on Improved Operational Efficiency

The company’s net profit rose 154.37% to ₹18.34 crore in Q1 FY26 from ₹7.21 crore a year earlier. The surge was supported by higher sales volumes and improved cost management. Total expenses stood at ₹311.65 crore for the quarter. On an operational basis, Bharat Dynamics reported an EBITDA loss of ₹45 crore, narrowing from an EBITDA loss of ₹52 crore in the same period last year.

Robust Order Book of ₹23,300 Crore Supports Future Revenue Visibility

Bharat Dynamics holds an order book worth nearly ₹23,300 crore, covering key missile and defence projects including Akash, Astra Mk1, and MRSAM. Additionally, the company is engaged in a project pipeline of around ₹50,000 crore, which is expected to drive revenue growth in the coming years. Last month, it secured an ₹809 crore order from Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) for an anti-tank guided missile system, to be executed over three years.

Share Price Performance: Intraday Gains Reflect Earnings Optimism

Year-to-date, the stock has gained over 40%, significantly outperforming the Nifty 50’s 3.69% rise year-to-date in 2025.

Bharat Dynamics: Leading Defence PSU with Strategic Importance

Headquartered in Hyderabad and incorporated in 1970, Bharat Dynamics Ltd operates under the Ministry of Defence and specialises in the design and manufacture of guided missile systems and related equipment for the Indian Armed Forces. As of June 2025, the Government of India held a 74.93% stake in the company.

Defence Sector Momentum Adds to Positive Outlook

India’s annual defence production has surpassed ₹1.5 lakh crore for the first time, marking a significant expansion in the country’s defence industrial base. With a solid order pipeline, ongoing defence procurement programmes, and a strong government push for domestic manufacturing, Bharat Dynamics is well-positioned to benefit from the sector’s growth momentum.
