Short covering up seen in Nifty Futures
Create Shorts with stop loss (SL) at 24750 levels
During the first session of a holiday-shortened week, yesterday, the Nifty recovered all of Friday’s losses by gaining 221 points (0.91%) to close at 24585.
The index opened slightly higher and continued to rise throughout the day.
Short Covering was seen in the Nifty Futures where Open Interest fell by 1.60% with Nifty rising by 0.91%.
Short Covering was seen in the Bank Nifty Futures where Open Interest fell by 3.44% with Bank Nifty rising by 0.92%.
Nifty Open Interest Put Call ratio rose to 1.03 levels from 0.66 levels.
Amongst the Nifty options (14-Aug Expiry), Call writing is seen at 24700-24800 levels, indicating Nifty is likely to find strong resistance in the vicinity of 24700-24800 levels. On the lower side, an immediate support is placed in the vicinity of 24600-24500 levels where we have seen Put writing.
Short covering was seen from the side of FIIs in the Index Futures segment where they net bought contracts worth 550 cr with their Open Interest going down by 2623 contracts.
