The Nifty’s attempt at a follow-up rally failed yesterday as the index fell 97 points to close at 24487. After an initial rise in the first hour of trade to 24702, the Nifty reversed direction and fell over 200 points from its high, settling near the day’s low.

Short Build-Up was seen in the Nifty Futures where Open Interest rose by 0.72% with Nifty falling by 0.40%.

Short Build-Up was seen in the Bank Nifty Futures where Open Interest rose by 3.41% with Bank Nifty falling by 0.84%.

Nifty Open Interest Put Call ratio fell to 0.78 levels from 1.03 levels.

Amongst the Nifty options (14-Aug Expiry), Call writing is seen at 24600-24700 levels, indicating Nifty  likely to find strong resistance in the vicinity of 24600-24700 levels. On the lower side, an immediate support is placed in the vicinity of 24500-24400 levels where we have seen Put writing.

Short build-up was seen from the side of FIIs in the Index Futures segment where they net sold contracts worth 1,025 cr with their Open Interest going up by 4007 contracts.
