New Delhi: National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) on Thursday reported a 7 per cent rise in its consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 3,120 crore for the June quarter, driven by higher income from transaction charges.
The IPO-bound exchange earned a PAT of Rs 2,924 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Its total income increased 9 per cent year-on-year to Rs 5,252 crore in the April-June quarter of FY27 from Rs 4,798 crore a year ago, the bourse said in a statement.
Its revenue from transaction charges, the exchange’s largest income source, rose to Rs 3,623 crore during the quarter from Rs 3,154 crore in the year-ago period.
Further, revenue from data connectivity charges stood at Rs 258 crore, while operating investment income came in at Rs 234 crore. Revenue from data feed and terminal services was Rs 150 crore.
On the expenditure front, total expenses increased to Rs 1,129 crore in the first quarter of FY27 from Rs 1,053 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
During the quarter, NSE contributed Rs 20,579 crore to the exchequer, including collections and payments. This comprised Securities Transaction Tax/Commodities Transaction Tax (STT/CTT) of Rs 18,313 crore, stamp duty of Rs 980 crore, GST of Rs 657 crore, income tax of Rs 373 crore and Sebi fees of Rs 256 crore.
Of the total STT/CTT collections, the equity derivatives segment accounted for 57 per cent, followed by the cash market delivery-based segment at 37 per cent and the cash market intraday segment at 6 per cent.
Meanwhile, NSE said that markets regulator Sebi has, in principle, agreed to settle the long-pending co-location and dark fibre cases involving the bourse for Rs 1,491.21 crore and asked the exchange to pay the balance Rs 714.74 crore, after adjusting Rs 776.47 crore already deposited towards the settlement amount.
“The Board of Directors, in its meeting held on July 30, 2026, has approved the payment of the said amount of Rs 714.74 crore pursuant to the terms of the settlement,” NSE said.
The exchange had initially filed two settlement applications with Sebi on June 20, 2025 covering the co-location and dark fibre matters, for a cumulative amount of Rs 1,387.39 crore. Subsequently, on March 13, 2026, it revised the settlement terms, increasing the cumulative amount to Rs 1,491.21 crore.
In June, NSE filed its preliminary IPO papers with Sebi.
The issue, which is entirely an offer for sale (OFS), comprises 14.89 crore equity shares to be sold by existing shareholders, amounting to nearly 6 per cent of the exchange’s equity.
With no fresh issue component, the proposed Rs 30,000-crore IPO is expected to be one of the largest ever in the Indian capital markets.
