Mumbai, July 9: Three sectors were the top performers of the day, driving Nifty 50 higher in Thursday’s session. Realty, Media and Capital Markets stocks are leading the broader market rally on Thursday. While buying in realty and capital markets is broad based across constituents, select media stocks are surging. Print, music and gaming names are rallying sharply while traditional broadcasters lag behind. Here’s what’s driving each theme and stocks leading the moves:

Real Estate

Nifty Realty index is currently the top sectoral gainer of the day, up 2.92% so far. It is extending its 30-day gain to over 18%. The rally is broad-based with residential and commercial developers across market capitalisations surging. Investor interest in realty stocks remains elevated on expectations of continued demand for housing and stable project launches ahead of festive season. Cheap borrowing costs and signs of input cost pressures easing are also cited as positives for developers who have large residential inventory.

Phoenix Mills (PHOENIXLTD): Rs 2,114.70 up 4.56% from Rs 2,022.50
Brigade Enterprises (BRIGADE): Rs 521.70 up 3.77% from Rs 502.75
Aditya Birla Real Estate (ABREL): Rs 1,401.50 up 3.63% from Rs 1,352.40
Anant Raj (ANANTRAJ): Rs 563.00 up 3.35% from Rs 544.75
DLF (DLF): Rs 651.50 up 2.76% from Rs 634.00

Media

Nifty Media index is up 2.38% on the day but the move is being driven by a few counters and not the broader sector. Print and audio content companies are rallying sharply while television broadcasters are struggling to hold on to gains. D B Corp is the top performer on the index today on a massive, single-day jump while music labels Saregama and Tips Music are continuing their recent outperformance.

D B Corp (DBCORP): Rs 218.00 up 10.35% from Rs 197.56
Saregama India (SAREGAMA): Rs 476.90 up 6.64% from Rs 447.20
Tips Music (TIPSMUSIC): Rs 707.35 up 5.82% from Rs 668.45
Nazara Technologies (NAZARA): Rs 307.85 up 4.16% from Rs 295.55
Not all stocks in the index are rallying in sympathy with the theme. Zee Entertainment (ZEEL) is up just 0.55% at Rs 100.11, Sun TV Network (SUNTV) is trading nearly flat at Rs 497.45, and Network18 Media (NETWORK18) has added only 0.26%. PVR Inox (PVRINOX) is also up just 0.9%, suggesting that the broadcasting and multiplex names are yet to participate in the rally in any significant way.

Capital Markets

Nifty Capital Markets index is up 2.29% on the day. Stocks across brokerages, asset managers and registrar and transfer agents are rallying. Nuvama Wealth Management is surging after a sharp single-day rally, while asset management companies Nippon Life India and HDFC AMC are also among the biggest gainers on the day. The participation is broad based, suggesting that investors are bullish on rising capital market activity and healthy volumes across the ecosystem. Stocks of exchanges and depositories are also rallying.

Nuvama Wealth Management (NUVAMA): Rs 1,932.00 up 4.54% from Rs 1,848.10
Nippon Life India Asset Management (NAM-INDIA): Rs 1,219.80 up 4.43% from Rs 1,168.00
KFin Technologies (KFINTECH): Rs 882.40 up 4.06% from Rs 847.95
Motilal Oswal Financial Services (MOTILALOFS): Rs 941.30 up 3.49% from Rs 909.60
Computer Age Management Services (CAMS): Rs 773.40 up 3.15% from Rs 749.80
HDFC Asset Management Company (HDFCAMC): Rs 2,735.10 up 2.85% from Rs 2,659.20
Thursday’s broader market rally is fairly broad-based with Nifty 50 up 0.65% while Nifty Midcap Select and Nifty Smallcap 100 indices are outperforming with gains of 1.60% and 1.67%, respectively. India VIX has cooled sharply, down nearly 10% on the day, suggesting easing volatility even as Iran conflict-driven uncertainty continues to linger over global risk markets. It shows that investors are rewarding sectors and market capitalisations across the board today, instead of rotating into a few.
