Silver Rate Today, May 22, 2026: Silver Price Holds Steady; Southern Cities Edge Higher as Metal Stabilises Near ₹2,850

Mumbai, May 22: Silver prices in India were largely unchanged on Friday, with the national rate holding firm at ₹285 per gram — or ₹2,850 per 10 grams and ₹2,85,000 per kilogram — as the metal consolidated after Thursday’s first gain in five sessions. The stability at current levels comes after silver had recovered ₹50 per 10 grams on Thursday from Wednesday’s ₹2,800, and Friday’s flat close suggests the market may be finding a near-term floor following a correction that had erased as much as ₹300 per 10 grams from the tariff-driven spike-high of ₹3,100 recorded on May 14.
The absence of fresh selling pressure on Friday, even as global cues remained mixed amid ongoing uncertainty over US-Iran peace negotiations, points to a tentative stabilisation in domestic silver sentiment. Bullion dealers note that at current levels, selective buying has resumed from industrial users and silverware manufacturers who had deferred purchases through the post-tariff correction.
City-Wise Rates
City-wise, most markets held flat at ₹2,850 per 10 grams on Friday, including Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Vadodara and Ahmedabad — each unchanged from Thursday’s close. Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala, however, continued to command a ₹100 premium over the national benchmark, each quoting silver at ₹2,950 per 10 grams on Friday, up ₹50 from Thursday’s ₹2,900 in those markets.
Comparing Friday’s rates to Tuesday’s levels tells a sharper story: most cities are now trading ₹50 lower than Tuesday’s ₹2,900, reflecting the residual weight of the mid-week correction, while Chennai, Hyderabad and Kerala — which had briefly held at ₹3,000 per 10 grams on Tuesday — are ₹50 below that level, underscoring that even the premium southern markets have not fully recovered the ground lost during the five-session selloff. The persistent ₹100 premium commanded by southern cities over the national benchmark remains a structural feature of India’s silver market, driven by historically stronger retail and temple demand in those regions.
Gold Prices
Gold prices in India slipped modestly on Friday, with 24-karat gold retreating ₹440 to ₹1,59,490 per 10 grams after a three-session winning streak that had added a cumulative ₹3,710. The 22-karat rate eased ₹400 to ₹1,46,200 per 10 grams, while 18-karat gold declined ₹330 to ₹1,19,620 per 10 grams. Friday’s pullback is best read as routine end-of-week profit-taking rather than a directional reversal, with the metal remaining well above its post-correction low of ₹1,56,220 recorded earlier this month.
