Mumbai, August 5, 2025 – A total of 50 stocks surged to new 52-week highs, while 55 counters slumped to fresh 52-week lows on tuesday, indicating a sharply divided sentiment in the broader market. While several large-cap and mid-cap stocks continued their upward trajectory, a number of small and micro-cap names slipped on persistent selling pressure.

Key Stocks at New 52-Week Highs

50 stocks hit fresh 52-week highs on Tuesday, with Godfrey Phillips India leading the gains, jumping almost 10% to ₹9,854 and setting a new peak at ₹9,881.50. CPPLUS followed, rising over 6% to ₹1,080 after hitting a new high of ₹1,104. Eurobond also saw notable action, up over 5% at ₹235.50. Other names on the list included Jainam Ferro Alloys, Blue Coast Hotels, Bosch, Fortis Healthcare, and TVS Motor.

Key Stocks at New 52-Week Lows

A total of 55 stocks hit 52-week lows on Tuesday, with the bulk of them from the small-cap and SME segments. Zim Laboratories led the decline, down over 6% to ₹80.75 after hitting ₹79.33. GACM Technologies DVR matched its intraday low of ₹0.47, also falling 6%. Flexituff and Winny Immigration lost nearly 5%, while others like NECLIFE and Dreamfolks Services also saw notable weakness.

Summary

The stock market traded lower on Tuesday, August 5, amid ongoing corporate earnings and rising geopolitical tensions. Sentiment weakened after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to “substantially” raise tariffs on goods over continued Russian oil imports. India said it will take necessary steps to protect national interest and is reviewing the potential impact.

Outlook

Split Market Tone: A nearly even split between 52-week highs and lows reflects diverging trends across segments, with large-caps showing resilience and broader weakness visible in small-cap and SME names.

Watchlist Ahead: Investors should track earnings updates, tariff-related developments between India and the U.S., and movement in micro-cap liquidity.

Segmental Divergence to Persist: With external risks and stock-specific catalysts in play, market breadth is likely to remain uneven in the near term.
