New Delhi, September 9, 2025: On Monday, President Droupadi Murmu, while addressing the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), applauded the engineering sector for its steady growth in global trade. She acknowledged how the exports have flourished over the last seventy years post-independence.
Growth in Engineering Exports
Emphasizing the recent trends, she highlighted that engineering exports surged from $70 billion to over $115 billion, even amid unstable global conditions. This progress, she stressed, reflects the adaptability and resilience of Indian enterprises in meeting global challenges.
Shifting Global Trade Links
Post-independence, the President remarked that Indian engineering exports have undergone major diversification. Earlier, it used to be centred around a few traditional markets. However, with changing times, it now caters to a larger global audience. She praised EEPC for driving this transition and linking Indian manufacturers with global customers.
Role of EEPC in Economic Strategy
Stressing its significance, Murmu noted that EEPC has played a pivotal role in building a network of Indian manufacturers and global players, and this progress must evolve further as the trade dynamics keep shifting regularly. She also added that India’s ability to secure its role in value will largely depend on bodies like EEPC.
Innovation and Capability Centres
President Murmu highlighted India’s strength in delivering top-notch engineering goods at a very affordable rate. Moreover, many of the Global Capability Centres have their base in India, which in turn channelises local talent and entrepreneurial energy, creating an economy centred around innovation.
A Call for Future Growth
In her closing statement, the President encouraged industry stakeholders to propel India’s capabilities towards positioning the country as a prime centre of knowledge, innovation and commerce. She also stressed the need for a supportive ecosystem that fosters talent and enterprise, which are vital for enhancing India’s global standing in the trade market.
