Mumbai, October 22: Allied Blenders and Distillers Limited (ABD) shares were trading 0.77% higher at ₹700.15 on Thursday after the company announced the commencement of commercial operations at its malt distillery in Rangapur, Telangana. The facility has an approved manufacturing capacity of approximately 4.4 million bulk litres per annum.
The new facility expands ABD’s domestic production capabilities and strengthens its control over a key ingredient used in its whisky portfolio.
Malt Distillery to Support Whisky Production
The distillery will allow ABD to manufacture malt spirit in-house, helping the company maintain consistent quality and a reliable supply as production scales up. The facility is also expected to support product development and maturation.
ABD said the new capacity would help it begin laying the groundwork for its own homegrown single malt whisky in the coming years, while supporting its Prestige & Above portfolio.
The distillery forms part of the company’s broader manufacturing network at Rangapur, which includes grain distillation, PET bottle production and bottling operations. The integrated setup is intended to improve control over production, quality and supply continuity.
