Chennai, August 1, 2025 – Ashok Leyland Ltd (NSE: ASHOKLEY, BSE: 500477) posted an 8% year-on-year increase in total vehicle sales for July 2025, reaching 15,064 units. The growth was led by a surge in M&HCV bus sales, highlighting demand recovery in public transport and infrastructure-driven routes across both domestic and export markets.

The company also saw stable performance in trucks and light commercial vehicles. Domestic sales rose 4% to 13,501 units, with high-margin categories supporting topline stability. Cumulative sales for April–July FY26 climbed 3%, despite a marginal drop in truck volumes.

Ashok Leyland reported total vehicle sales of 15,064 units in July 2025, up 8% year-on-year. Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) sales rose 13%, led by a 42% jump in M&HCV buses to 2,862 units. M&HCV truck sales grew modestly by 4%, while Light Commercial Vehicles (LCVs) remained flat with a 1% increase at 5,535 units. The data reflects strong demand for buses, supporting overall growth.

Domestic Sales Performance

Ashok Leyland reported a 4% year-on-year rise in domestic vehicle sales for July 2025, delivering 13,501 units compared to 12,926 units in the same month last year. The improvement reflects stable demand across categories, led by continued strength in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) segment.

Within this, M&HCV buses posted a robust 14% growth, reaching 1,627 units. M&HCV trucks rose 4% year-on-year to 6,518 units, showing resilience despite a high base. Light commercial vehicles (LCVs) maintained steady performance, inching up 2% to 5,356 units for the month.

Cumulative FY26 (Apr-Jul) Performance

Ashok Leyland’s total global sales for April–July 2025 rose 3% year-on-year to 59,302 units, up from 57,821 units in the same period last year. The increase was led by gains in the medium and heavy commercial vehicle (M&HCV) category and steady performance in light commercial vehicles (LCVs).

M&HCV buses posted the highest growth, jumping 19% year-on-year to 10,551 units. Total M&HCV volumes grew 4% to 37,600 units despite a marginal 1% dip in truck sales. LCV sales edged up 1% to 21,702 units during the period.

Outlook

Strong July sales, led by M&HCV buses and stable LCV volumes, reinforce Ashok Leyland’s position in key commercial segments. The market is assessing this as a sign of healthy demand recovery. Continued traction in high-margin categories could support earnings momentum in the coming quarters.
