Asian equity markets start the day in green

Asian equity markets have started the day today in green. At 8:25 a.m. IST, 10th November, 2025, Nikkei 225 is up by 490.52 points or 0.98%. Hang Seng is up by 165.07 points or 0.63%. South Korean Kospi is up by 102.91 points or 2.60%. Expectations of a tax cut are driving South Korean stocks up today. Shanghai composite is up by 0.36 points or 0.0090% at this time.
China relaxes curbs on exports of some metals to US
China has removed curbs on exports of a number of rare earth metals to US. These metals include gallium, germanium etc. They find use in the manufacturing of chips. China will also resume exports of Nexperia chips for civilian purposes. These chips find use in electric vehicles. China had halted export of these chips in September. This was in retaliation to Dutch government’s move to take over control of Nexperia citing governance issues and threat to the security of European union. Nexperia’s major assembly plant is in China.
Government shutdown has started taking its toll on US economy
Nasdaq ended the day on Friday, 7th November, down by 49.46 points or 0.21%. Dow Jones closed the day, up by 74.80 points or 0.16%. S&P 500 ended the day, up by 8.48 points or 0.13%. Continued government shutdown has started taking its toll on the US economy.
The ongoing government shutdown is the longest in US history. President Trump has now ordered states to not issue full food stamps to the poor until the shutdown continues. Major airports are facing suspension of flights due to shortage of air traffic controllers and airport staff because of the government shutdown. A large number of federal employees, including those working at airports, have been sent on furlough because of lack of funding for paying them.
European markets also ended the day in red, on Friday, 7th November. Euro Stoxx 50 ended the day, down by 44.65 points or 0.80%. Dax ended the day, down by 164.06 points or 0.69%. FTSE 100 ended the day, down by 53.21 points or 0.55%.
Indian equity markets are likely to see more of a mixed day today. Markets may start the day in green. But may also see some short term profit booking as caution continues to prevail.
