Bharti Airtel, Vodafone shares gained, as Indian markets ended the day on a positive note

Indian equity markets ended the day in green today, 7th October, 2025. Nifty 50 ended the day, up by 30.65 points or 0.12%. Sensex ended the day, up by 136.63 points or 0.17%. Markets ended the day in green for the third consecutive day, today.
Top gainers & losers
Top three gainers at Nifty 50 today were Jio Financial Services, Bharti Airtel and HCL Tech. Top three losers at Nifty 50 today were Axis Bank, Tata Motors and Trent.
Telecom stocks gained today
Telecom stocks like Bharti Airtel gained today. Bharti Airtel ended the day, up by 1.35%, trading at Rs 1,928.80. It is expected that average revenue per user of telecom companies will increase quarter-on-quarter by 1-2% in the September quarter, as per the report of a brokerage house.
Vodafone Idea shares gained 9.09% today. This on the report that Indian government may offer the company the option of a one-time settlement of its Adjusted Gross Revenue (AGR) dues. The government is expected to make this announcement during the upcoming visit of British Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer. The British PM will be visiting India on 8th and 9th October.
Broad market indices end the day in green
All the broad market indices, except for Nifty Microcap 250 index, ended the day in green today. This indicates that gains were broad-based and not limited to just a few large cap stocks. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 1.44%. Nifty Realty index ended the day, up by 1.09%. Nifty Media index was the top loser, among sectoral indices. It ended the day, down by 0.46%.
Market breadth was negative as some profit booking was seen
Market breadth was negative today. 1434 stocks gained at NSE today. 1635 stocks declined. This indicates that some degree of profit booking was also seen in many stocks, today.
