DGCA issues show cause notice to IndiGo over simulator training lapses

August 13, 2025: The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) has issued a show-cause notice to IndiGo. The notice pertains to alleged irregularities in simulator training provided by the airline company to 1700 pilots under Category C (Critical Airfield Training).
As per the notice, the DGCA has alleged that the airline company has used simulators while training 1700 pilots at certain airports, including Calicut, Leh and Kathmandu, which were not qualified for operations. Airports such as Calicut have a tabletop runway and are required to meet specific additional requirements for flight operations.
IndiGo has acknowledged the receipt of the notice through its official statement. The company’s spokesperson stated that the notice is currently being reviewed, and a formal response shall be filed with the regulator within the given period.
In addition to IndiGo, the DGCA found 263 safety lapses in different airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, Vistara, and Air India Express. These included 19 Level 1 violations, which are considered critical safety risks and need immediate corrective actions from the airline operators.
At 12 p.m. on Wednesday, IndiGo (NSE: INDIGO) ‘s stock price is up by 0.73% at Rs 5,970.50. The stock has surged strongly in the past six months, rising by more than 36.80% during this period.
