Diwali : Indian equity markets look set to see a strong day in green today

US equity markets ended the day in green on Friday, 17^th October, 2025. Nasdaq ended the day, up by 117.44 points or 0.52%. Dow Jones ended the day, up by 238.37 points or 0.52%. S&P 500 ended the day, up by 34.93 points or 0.53%. Markets are now expecting a rate cut by US Federal Reserve in its upcoming monetary policy meeting on October 28^th.

But European markets fell

European markets fell on Friday. Eurostoxx 50 ended the day, down by 44.62 points or 0.79%. Dax ended, down by 441.20 points or 1.82%. FTSE 100 ended, down by 81.52 points or 0.86%.

Asian markets soaring today

Nikkei 225 is soaring today. This, after newly elected leader of LDP, Sanae Takaichi, struck a political deal that would ensure that she becomes the next PM of Japan. Ms. Takaichi’s prospects of becoming the next PM got a setback last week when one of the ruling coalition partners withdrew support on her name. Ms. Takaichi’s economic policies are favored by equity markets.

At 9:10 a.m. IST, 20^th October, 2025, Nikkei 225 is up by 1,388 points or 2.92%. Hang Seng is up by 611 points or 2.42%. Shanghai is up by 26.34 points or 0.69%. Kospi is up by 52.25 points or 1.39%.

Indian markets look set to see a day in green

Indian equity markets are all set to see a strong day in green on Diwali day. Market sentiments must have got some boost by Commerce Minister, Piyush Goyal’s statement that the trade talks between US and India are going in a cordial manner. Goldman Sachs has said that it expects a rate cut by RBI before the end of this year.
