Eternal shares top gainer at Nifty 50 today; markets see sharp rise in last 1 hour

Indian equity markets saw sharp rise in the last one hour of trading today, 18^th September. Nifty 50 ended the day, up by 93.35 points or 0.37%. Sensex ended the day, up by 320.25 points or 0.39%.

Top gainers & losers

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 today were Eternal, HDFC Life and Sun Pharma. Top 3 losers were Coal India, Bajaj Finance and Trent.

All the broad market indices, except for Nifty Microcap 250 index, ended the day in green today. Nifty Smallcap 50 index was the top gainer today among the broad market indices. It ended the day, up by 0.52%.

Pharma & IT stocks gained today

Among sectoral indices, Nifty Pharma index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 1.50%. IT stocks also gained after the interest rate cut by US Federal Reserve, yesterday. Nifty IT index ended the day, up by 0.83%. Nifty Media index was the top loser today, among sectoral indices. It ended the day, down by 0.30%.

Market breadth remained positive

Market breadth was positive today. 1606 stocks gained at NSE. 1426 stocks declined. 78 stocks touched 52-week high today. 20 stocks touched new 52-week low.
