Mumbai, 4 November 2025: After three successive quarters of selling, Foreign Portfolio Investors (FPIs) in Indian equities made a comeback in October 2025. Data from NSDL reveal that in that month, FPIs pumped a net amount of ₹14,610 crores into the stock market. Of this, ₹10,707.97 crores, almost 73% of the total, were routed to the primary market via the IPO channel.

Surge in Primary Market Participation

Most of the market rally in October was driven by record participation in IPOs. A large portion of foreign investments flowed into new stock issues rather than existing listed equities, reflecting strong investor confidence in India’s growing equity market and the positive trajectory of corporate earnings.

Market analysts say that worldwide investors find Indian IPOs more attractive. This is due to their firm valuations, strong subscription levels and the country’s sound macroeconomic fundamentals.

Year-to-Date Investment Trends

FPIs have already invested a total of ₹54,292 crores in India’s primary market from January to October 2025. This clearly signals their deepening engagement with early-stage and growth-driven businesses. However, the data also reveal that during the same period, FPIs have offloaded shares worth ₹1,94,201 crores on stock exchanges. Thus reflecting a cautious attitude amid global volatility.

Most of the selling pressure was concentrated on the secondary market in the earlier part of the year. The strong subscription levels for the fresh issues serve as proof of the trust in India’s market prospects in the long run.

Strong IPO Pipeline Ahead

The ͏prima͏ry marke͏t continues͏ ͏to dominate inves͏tor c͏onversations, with sev͏eral ͏blockbu͏ster IPOs lined up for Nove͏mber.͏ The most anticipated͏ ͏among them include Groww͏, Pine Labs, ͏boAt, Physic͏sWallah, ͏and ICI͏CI Prudenti͏al AMC. Notab͏ly, t͏he Groww͏ IPO op͏ened today, drawin͏g str͏ong inve͏stor intere͏st and s͏ignalli͏ng sustained ͏e͏nt͏husiasm in the͏ marke͏t.

Few would disagr͏ee that the strong momentum seen in October i͏s likely͏ to͏ ͏continue, backed by factors such ͏as the rising p͏art͏icipation of domestic investors, ample liquidity, and the consistent s͏ucces͏s stories emerging from I͏n͏dia’s corpora͏te secto͏r.

Bottom Line

Foreign portfolio investors in India had a defining moment in October 2025. Overseas investors infused ₹14,610 crore into the market, out of which ₹10,708 crore was directed towards IPOs. This strong participation not only reaffirmed their bullish outlook on Indian capital markets but also reinforced India’s position as one of the most attractive destinations for long-term portfolio diversification and high-growth opportunities.
