Gift Nifty Signals Flat-to-Negative Start For the Indian Stock Market Today

Mumbai, November 4: The Indian stock market and all the included indices are expected to open on a flat-to-negative note today, November 4. This indication comes from Gift Nifty, which is down by 0.08%, or 22 points, and was trading at 25,872 as of 8:30 AM. Until now, the index has traded between 25,998 and 25,861.50.
Sensex and Nifty Ended Higher Yesterday
Both Sensex and Nifty ended higher yesterday, November 3, 2025. Sensex gained 39.78 points or 0.05% to close at 83,978.49, while the Nifty closed at 25,763.35, up 41.25 points or 0.16%. The slight positive performance was supported by demand in telecom, realty and PSU stocks. Furthermore, the BSE Midcap Index also closed higher by 0.6%, while the Smallcap Index closed higher by 0.7%.
FIIs Net Sellers While DIIs Net Buyers
Yesterday, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers for the fourth straight session and sold Indian equities worth ₹1,883 crore net. On the other hand, DIIs were net buyers and bought Indian equities worth ₹3,516 crore net.
Global Markets and Commodities Highlights
Overnight, US Markets ended on a mixed note. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq closed higher, while the Dow Jones fell 0.4%. On the other hand, Asian equities have opened lower today with Japan’s Topix falling by 0.5%, while the Hang Seng Futures are unchanged for now.
On the commodities front, Crude oil prices fell slightly after rising for four straight days. Gold prices were steady after the rate cut by the Federal Reserve. The dollar index was trading near its three-month high, while US bond yields fell.
Flat-to-negative Opening Expected Today
As indicated by Gift Nifty, and global signals, the Indian stock market is expected to open on a flat-to-negative note today. Investors will be watching Q2 earning announcements from key companies such as State Bank of India, Mahindra & Mahindra, Adani Ports, InterGlobe Aviation, and Indian Hotels for intraday cues.
