New Delhi, October 24 – Leading broadband equipment manufacturer GX Group has announced plans to invest ₹500 crore to establish a photonic module and chip subsidiary in India, a critical step in local semiconductor manufacturing. The company has manufacturing facilities in Europe and India, and it will be the first-of-its-kind initiative of this scale, aligning with the Central Government’s Atmanirbhar Plan.

The company’s new arm will be headquartered in Manesar (Gurgaon, Haryana) and will create over 300 jobs, according to the Group CEO, Paritosh Prajapati. The company currently employs around 250 people in India and supplies fibre-to-the-home devices, enterprise-grade switchers, and Wi-Fi routers across markets in Asia, Europe, and Africa.

Facility and Expansion Plans

The company elaborated on the first phase, which will involve setting up a manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The current R&D centre in Chennai is also to be expanded under the first phase. The company expects to begin operations in Q1FY27 and to roll out the chips in October 2026.

The Group CEO also suggested that, in addition to the benefits to the company, this initiative will help India’s position in the high-performance optical and photonic component market. The company also plans to invest in and expand R&D to support next-generation telecom and data infrastructure.

Market Opportunity and Customer Base

The company’s photomics business operates under the Quantum Photonics brand and is aiming to target a $50 billion addressable market in India. The company has a well-known clientele, including Airtel, ACT, Tata Play and various Tier I telecom operators and data centre firms across different countries.

The investment reinforces GX Group’s commitment to advancing India’s semiconductor and optical networking ecosystem while contributing to local manufacturing and job creation.
