Bengaluru, November 24, 2025: Shares of Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (NSE: HAL | BSE: 541154) declined over 3% in early Monday trade. The downward spiral in the share price came after the company confirmed one of its aircraft, a Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) crashed during an aerial display at the Dubai Air Show.

Condolence Following Tejas Crash

The aircraft was being maneuvered by IAF pilot Wing Commander Namansh Syal. He unfortunately lost his life during the crash on Friday. The company has expressed condolences for the loss of his life. It also acknowledged Wing Commander Syal’s contribution to the nation. As per the visuals from Friday, the aircraft lost altitude during a low-level manoeuvre. It then hit the ground and burst into flames.

The crash happened during a performance at the Dubai Air Show. As the aircraft crashed, plumes of black smoke rose over the Dubai World Central airfield. It marked the second for the aircraft in the last 20 months. The last crash happened in March last year at Jaisalmer. However, the pilot ejected safely from the aircraft in that incident.

HAL’s Order Pipeline

The Tejas program started in 1984. It then received its first airworthiness clearance in 2011. However, the initial version was inducted in 2016 by the IAF. This marked a major milestone in India’s indigenous fighter jet capabilities. Since the beginning of the program, HAL has always had a strong order book for the Tejas.

In fact, the program is among the strongest domestic defence manufacturing projects of the company. In 2021, the company signed a Rs 48,000 crore contract for 83 Tejas MK-1A jets with the Defence Ministry. This was followed by other major order wins in 2023. In 2023, the company received an in-principle approval for 97 additional Tejas jets. However, despite the strong pipeline, the crash in Dubai has raised concern among investors, which is visible in today’s stock decline.
