The delegation, led by Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, and Bev Craig, Mayor of Greater Manchester, visited Hexaware’s Mumbai office as part of the Great North’s first joint mayor-led trade mission to India.

Hexaware Discusses UK Investment and Research Plans

During the visit, Hexaware discussed its UK expansion plans, regional job creation and opportunities for technology collaboration across northern England. The company and the University of Leeds also discussed strengthening industry-academic ties through research, knowledge sharing and experiential learning opportunities for students.

The discussions follow Hexaware’s October 14 meeting in Bengaluru with Greater Manchester representatives and the British Deputy High Commission to discuss investment in the region.

Hexaware has announced plans to invest £9 million in a Design and Innovation Centre at Manchester’s innovation district, Sister, in collaboration with the University of Manchester. The centre is expected to create hundreds of jobs.

The company also announced a £25 million UK expansion in June 2026, expected to create approximately 1,200 jobs over three to five years across Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. Plans include proposed research and development centres in Manchester and Leeds, with Newcastle also under consideration.
