Indian markets saw across the board selling today; Max Healthcare shares gained

Indian equity markets ended the day in red today, 14^th October, 2025. Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 81.85 points or 0.32%. Sensex ended the day, down by 297.07 points or 0.36%. The decline in the markets today was broad based. All the broad market indices ended the day in red. Volatility increased. Nifty VIX index increased by 1.33%.

All the sectoral indices ended in red

All the sectoral indices also ended the day in red today. Nifty PSU Bank index was the top loser among sectoral indices today. It ended the day, down by 1.52%. Nifty Consumer Durables Index lost 1.08%. Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom index lost 1.04%.

Top gainers & losers

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 today were Max Health, Tech Mahindra and Wipro. Top 3 losers were Dr Reddy’s, Tata Steel and Bajaj Finance. IT shares such as Tech Mahindra and Wipro gained today after HCL posted some encouraging September quarter result yesterday.

Max Healthcare shares gained more than 1%

Max Healthcare shares gained 1.42% today, ending the day at Rs 1,159.50. The stock has seen some gains since its inclusion in the Nifty 50 index. In 2025, year-to-date it has gained only 1.75%, thereby underperforming the Nifty 50 index. Nifty 50 index has gained 5.91%, year-to-date in 2025.

Market breadth highly negative today

Market breadth was highly negative today. 836 stocks gained at NSE today. 2266 stocks declined today. That is an advance – to – decline ratio of 0.37. 90 stocks touched new 52-week high today. 115 stocks touched new 52-week lows.
