Indian equity markets have started the day in green today, 29th October, 2025. At 9:45 a.m. IST, Nifty 50 is up by 36.50 points or 0.14%. Sensex is up by 47.91 points or 0.057%.

Top gainers & losers

Top three gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are JSW Steel, Tata Steel, and Tata Consumer Products. Top three losers at this time are M&M, BEL, Shriram Finance. Tata Steel shares are up by 2.82% at this time, trading at Rs 1,217.60. Tata Consumer Products share price is up by 2.27%, trading at Rs 1,184.50. The company has been facing some protests against it from its distributors over certain issues. The company’s shares are probably seeing some buying on the recent dips.

Some other Tata group companies’ stocks are seeing gains today. Mehli Mistry was yesterday voted out of the board of directors of Tata Trusts by a majority vote. This will strengthen the position of Noel Tata. Mistry is a cousin of former Tata group CEO, Cyrus Mistry.

Shares of oil marketing companies gaining today

Many smallcap stocks are seeing selling at this time. Nifty Smallcap 100 index is down by 0.29%. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Metal index is the top gainer at this time. It is up by 1.70%. Nifty Oil & Gas index is up by 1.13%. Stocks of oil marketing companies are gaining today. Indian Oil’s share price is up by 3.24% at this time, trading at Rs 159.52. This, after oil prices have come down due to supply exceeding demand. WTI crude for December delivery is down by 0.08%, trading at $60.11 per barrel. Brent crude is trading at around $64.36 per barrel. The stock is also seeing gains today because of good September quarter result.
