Indigo shares among top losers today, as markets end another day in red

Indian equity markets again ended the day in red today, 30^th September. Markets followed similar pattern of trade as yesterday. Early morning gains were given up in the later half of the day. Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 23.80 points or 0.097%. Sensex ended the day, down by 97.32 points or 0.12%.

Markets await RBI’s monetary policy decision tomorrow. The decline seen in many realty stocks and consumer durable stocks today indicate that many market participants are expecting that RBI may keep interest rate unchanged tomorrow.

Top gainers & losers

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 today were JSW Steel, Ultratech Cement, and Hindalco. Top 3 losers were Indigo, ITC and Dr. Reddy’s. Indigo’s stock emerged as the top loser on the first day of its trading as a constituent of Nifty 50. The stock ended the day down by 2.03% at Rs 5,591.

Banking stocks gained today

Among broad market indices, Nifty Smallcap 250 index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 0.16%. Nifty Microcap 250 index was the top loser today. It ended the day, down by 0.39%.

Among sectoral indices, Nifty PSU bank index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 1.84%. Nifty Consumer Durables Index was the top loser today. It ended the day, down by 0.87%. Nifty Realty index also ended the day, down by 0.82%.

Market breadth was even

Market breadth was almost even at NSE. 1517 stocks gained today. 1506 stocks declined. 79 stocks touched 52-week highs today. 109 stocks touched 52 week lows.
