Mumbai, July 20: KPI Green Energy Ltd. has secured charging permission from the Chief Electrical Inspector (CEIG), Government of Maharashtra, for its 100 MW (AC) / 128 MW (DC) grid-connected ground-mounted solar power project developed for Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. (MAHAGENCO).

According to the company’s exchange filing, the project has been executed on a turnkey EPC basis at Ramthi, Narkhed, in Nagpur district, Maharashtra. The CEIG approval allows the project to be charged and marks a key regulatory milestone before commercial operations.

The company said the commissioning strengthens its footprint in Maharashtra while adding a marquee state utility project to its operating portfolio. It also highlighted the approval as evidence of its execution capabilities in delivering large-scale, grid-connected solar projects for public-sector utilities.

Stock Market Snapshot

KPI Green share price remained under pressure despite the operational update.

As of 11:42 AM IST on July 20, 2026, the stock was trading at ₹407.90, down 0.42% from the previous close. The stock recovered briefly during the morning to touch above ₹410 after the announcement before giving up those gains, indicating investors remained cautious despite the positive project development.

The muted market reaction suggests participants may have already factored the project’s progress into expectations or are awaiting confirmation of commercial operations and its financial contribution.

Company Background

KPI Green Energy develops and operates renewable energy assets while also executing solar projects under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) model. The company undertakes utility-scale as well as captive power projects across multiple states and has steadily expanded its presence in India’s renewable energy sector through solar generation and infrastructure development.

Projects for government-backed utilities such as MAHAGENCO form an important part of its EPC portfolio and reinforce its position in large-scale clean energy execution.

Conclusion

The CEIG charging permission represents an important regulatory milestone for KPI Green’s MAHAGENCO solar project, bringing it closer to full operationalisation. While the announcement did not materially lift the stock during Monday’s trade, the approval advances one of the company’s key utility-scale projects and is expected to support its expanding renewable energy portfolio.
