Mumbai, August 07: The LAPL Automotive IPO continued to witness healthy investor participation on the second day of bidding, with the ₹32.40 crore SME public issue subscribed 9.49 times by 10:49 AM on Friday, August 7. Retail investors remained the biggest contributors to the issue, while non-institutional investors (NIIs) also showed strong interest. Institutional bidding, however, is yet to gain momentum as Qualified Institutional Buyers (QIBs) largely stayed on the sidelines during the morning session.

The book-built issue, which opened for subscription on August 6, will remain open until August 10. The company plans to list its shares on the BSE SME platform, with the tentative listing scheduled for August 13, subject to regulatory approvals.

Retail Participation Continues To Dominate

The retail portion remained the biggest highlight of the issue, attracting bids worth 15.52 times the shares reserved for individual investors.

Demand from high-net-worth investors also remained strong. The overall NII category was subscribed 8.01 times, with both investment segments witnessing healthy participation.

  • sNII (Up to ₹10 lakh): 9.86x

Meanwhile, the QIB (excluding anchor investors) category was yet to receive bids and stood at 0.00 times. This is not unusual, as institutional investors often place bids closer to the final day of an IPO.

What Investors Should Watch

With two trading sessions effectively remaining before the issue closes on August 10, investors will be closely watching whether institutional participation picks up during the final bidding phase. QIB subscriptions generally accelerate on the last day, while retail and NII categories have already shown strong demand.

The subscription trend over the next two sessions will provide a clearer picture of overall investor appetite before the basis of allotment is finalised on August 11.

Conclusion

The LAPL Automotive IPO has entered its second day with encouraging momentum, driven primarily by retail investors and supported by solid participation from NIIs. The overall subscription has more than doubled from Day 1 levels, suggesting sustained interest in the SME issue. As bidding continues until August 10, attention will now shift to institutional participation and the final subscription numbers, which are expected to shape sentiment ahead of the company’s proposed listing on August 13.
