Solar Project To Reduce Dependence On Grid Electricity

The Rajasthan project has been set up to support captive power requirements and is expected to improve the company’s energy-cost efficiency over the longer term.

Lords Chloro Alkali said the renewable power facility will help reduce dependence on grid electricity, which can be relatively expensive, while also supporting its sustainability and environmental objectives.

The inclusion of a 1.672 MWh BESS adds an energy-storage component to the solar installation. This is intended to support the company’s power-management requirements alongside generation from the captive solar facility.

Lords Chloro Alkali’s Captive Renewable Capacity Reaches 47 MW DC

With the latest project becoming operational, Lords Chloro Alkali said its total installed captive and group captive renewable energy capacity has increased to 47 MW DC.

The company has been adding renewable capacity as part of its efforts to bring down its dependence on conventional electricity sources. Captive generation also gives industrial operations greater control over a portion of their power requirements.

The latest project combines solar generation with battery storage, creating a broader renewable energy setup rather than relying only on standalone solar generation.

Project Supports Long-Term Energy And Sustainability Goals

For an energy-intensive manufacturing business, power availability and cost can have a direct bearing on operating efficiency. The new captive solar facility gives Lords Chloro Alkali an additional renewable source for its operations in line with its longer-term energy strategy.

The company expects the project to contribute to lower dependence on grid power and strengthen the renewable component of its overall electricity consumption.

The commissioning also marks the completion of the project after grid synchronisation and regulatory certification, allowing commercial operations to begin from September 2, 2026.

Conclusion

Lords Chloro Alkali has commenced commercial operations of a 14.5 MW AC captive solar power plant with a 1.672 MWh BESS at Lunkaransar in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The project takes the company’s total installed captive and group captive renewable energy capacity to 47 MW DC and is expected to increase renewable energy consumption by around 40%, according to the company’s disclosure.
