Mahindra & Mahindra shares down by 1.90 % due to Mexico tariffs; Nifty, Sensex end the day in red

Indian equity markets ended the day in red today, 15^th December, 2025. Nifty 50 ended the day, down by 19.65 points or 0.075%. Sensex ended the day down by 54.30 points or 0.064%. Markets saw some recovery from the lows of the morning session during the course of the day.

Some small cap stocks saw some gains today. Nifty Smallcap 250 index ended the day, up by 0.36%. Among sectoral indices, Nifty Media index was the top gainer today. It ended the day, up by 1.79%. Nifty Auto index was the top loser today among sectoral indices. It ended the day, down by 0.91%.

Top gainers & losers

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 today were Indigo, Trent and Hindustan Unilever. Indigo’s shares gained 2.05% today. This, as the company progressed further towards restoring its normal flight operations. Top 3 losers today were Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors and ONGC.

Mahindra & Mahindra shares ended the day, down by 1.90%. Eicher Motors shares ended the day, down by 1.56%. Auto stocks ran out of some favor today after Mexico imposed 50% import tariffs on Indian goods. Indian auto companies are major exporters to Mexico. Mexico last week imposed 50% tariff on imports from all countries that do not have a free trade agreement (FTA) with it. ONGC shares fell as price of oil continued to decline.
