Mumbai, July 22: Shares of Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services surged for a second consecutive session on Wednesday, after the company’s strong June-quarter performance prompted bullish calls from brokerages. The stock rose as much as 10% today, after gaining 8.46% in the previous session.

The rally was driven by optimism over the company’s earnings outlook, with brokerages highlighting stronger execution, healthy asset quality and expectations of faster disbursement growth. Brokers upgraded the stock to ‘Buy’ and raised target price, implying an upside of 27% from Monday’s closing level. The brokerages also raised earnings-per-share estimates, citing higher fee income, faster loan disbursements and lower operating expenses.

Analysts said the company navigated the seasonally weaker June quarter well and maintained healthy asset quality trends, noting that quarterly net profit was 25% above estimates, although they flagged a potential monsoon deficit as a key risk to the company’s performance in FY27.

The company’s June-quarter profit after tax rose 70% year-on-year, ahead of estimates, helped by lower provisions. Assets under management grew 12.7% year-on-year, although net interest margins declined sequentially.

Profit Jumps In June Quarter

Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services reported a 75% year-on-year increase in consolidated net profit to 927 crore for the June quarter of FY27, supported by higher net interest margins and lower provisions. On a standalone basis, the Mahindra Group’s financial services arm posted a 70% rise in net profit to 899 crore.

The strong earnings performance has helped shift investor focus towards the company’s growth prospects, with brokerages expecting improved disbursements and stronger fee income to support profitability. The decline in provisions has also provided a boost to the bottom line, while asset quality remains a key factor behind the positive analyst commentary.

Asset Quality Offers Comfort

Asset quality trends have emerged as a key positive for the company. Brokers said the June quarter showed only a marginal sequential deterioration in gross Stage 2 and Stage 3 assets, viewed as evidence of relatively healthy credit quality.

For a non-banking financial company focused on vehicle and rural finance, asset quality remains particularly important given its exposure to economic cycles and rural income trends. The outlook for the monsoon will therefore remain closely watched, with rainfall conditions potentially influencing borrowers’ repayment capacity and demand for financing.

The company will also need to balance growth with credit costs as it seeks to accelerate disbursements. The positive brokerage commentary suggests investors are increasingly confident that the lender can grow its loan book without a significant deterioration in asset quality.

Brokerages See Further Upside

The sharp upward revisions from brokers have strengthened the bullish case for M&M Financial Services. Their target prices indicate further potential upside following the stock’s recent rally.

The stock’s strong two-day rally indicates that investors have largely responded positively to the June-quarter performance and brokerage upgrades. The focus now will be on whether the company can sustain disbursement growth, maintain asset quality and deliver the earnings expansion projected by the more bullish brokerages.

With strong Q1 earnings, improving operating metrics and positive brokerage commentary supporting the stock, M&M Financial Services has emerged as a key financial sector outperformer in the post-earnings period. However, investors will continue to monitor monsoon trends, net interest margins and credit costs to assess whether the recent momentum can be sustained through the rest of FY27.
