Mumbai, June 11: Petrol and diesel prices remained largely steady across major metros and state capitals on Thursday. While fuel rates in New Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata remained unchanged, select cities saw minor revisions, with Patna recording the sharpest increase in both prices of both the fuels. The trend comes even as investors closely track developments in the Middle East, where escalating geopolitical tensions have pushed crude oil prices higher and renewed concerns over global energy supplies.
Brent crude rose roughly 1.8% to trade above $94 per barrel after fresh tensions broke out in the Middle East. The rally rekindled concerns that elevated energy costs could keep inflationary pressures alive, erode consumer purchasing power and make it more difficult for central banks to pivot towards lower interest rates.
