Mumbai, July 13: Benchmark indices ended Monday’s trading session on a mixed note as buying in information technology stocks supported the market, while weakness in metal, aviation and consumer-oriented counters capped broader gains.

TCS, HCLTech and Infosys emerged as the day’s biggest gainers in the Nifty 50 index. On the losing side, Tata Steel, IndiGo and Tata Consumer Products saw the steepest declines.

Tata Steel 186.50 -2.45%

Technology Stocks Outperform

The TCS share price led the Nifty 50 gainers after climbing more than 5%, with HCLTech, Infosys and Tech Mahindra also posting solid advances. The strong performance across frontline IT stocks helped offset weakness in several other sectors.

Meanwhile, Tata Steel topped the losers’ list, followed by IndiGo and Tata Consumer Products. Grasim Industries, JSW Steel and Eternal also closed lower, reflecting selling pressure in select metal and consumption names.

Market Breadth Remains Mixed

While technology stocks attracted buying interest, profit booking emerged in metals, aviation and select consumer stocks. The divergence in sectoral performance kept overall market breadth balanced, with gains in IT largely offsetting declines elsewhere.

Conclusion

TCS, HCLTech and Infosys finished as the standout performers in the Nifty 50 on Monday, July 13, 2026, while Tata Steel, IndiGo and Tata Consumer Products ended among the day’s biggest laggards as investors rotated between sectors.
