TCS, Tech Mahindra and HCLTech led the Nifty 50 gainers at 11:15 AM on July 28, while Hindustan Unilever, Coal India and BEL were the biggest laggards.

Mumbai July, 28: Information technology stocks dominated the Nifty 50 gainers in morning trade on July 28, with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tech Mahindra and HCLTech leading advances. On the downside, Hindustan Unilever, Coal India and Bharat Electronics (BEL) emerged as the biggest drags on the benchmark index as of 11:15 AM IST.

Buying interest remained concentrated in large-cap IT names, while weakness in FMCG, public sector enterprises and select financial stocks capped broader market gains.

TCS was the strongest performer on the index, rising 4.63% to ₹2,401.90. Tech Mahindra and HCLTech followed with gains of 3.65% and 3.47%, respectively, extending strength across the IT pack. Eternal and Nestlé India also traded firmly higher, adding over 3% and nearly 3%, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever was the biggest loser on the Nifty, falling 4.35% to ₹2,079.90. Coal India and BEL declined 2.87% and 2.79%, respectively, while NTPC and Power Grid also traded lower as selling pressure persisted in PSU counters.

The Nifty 50 tracks India’s largest listed companies across sectors and serves as the benchmark for the domestic equity market. The index reflects sectoral trends through movements in heavyweight constituents such as TCS, Hindustan Unilever, HCLTech, NTPC and Coal India.

The TCS share price remained in focus after emerging as the index’s top gainer during the morning session, while Hindustan Unilever led the declines among blue-chip stocks.

Conclusion

As of 11:15 AM IST, the Nifty 50’s gainers were led by technology stocks, with TCS, Tech Mahindra and HCLTech driving the upside. In contrast, weakness in Hindustan Unilever, Coal India and BEL weighed on the benchmark, highlighting a clear divergence between IT and FMCG/PSU stocks in morning trade.
