Nifty, Sensex in green; Eicher Motors shares up by more than 1%

Indian equity markets have started the day in green today, 5^th January, 2026. At 10:30 a.m. IST Nifty 50 is up by 38.40 points or 0.15%. Sensex is up by 102.10 points or 0.12%.

All the broad market indices are in green at NSE at this time. Market expectation of volatility, though, has increased. Nifty VIX index is up by 7.96% at this time. This may be because of some increase in geopolitical risk after US raid on Venezuela that captured President Maduro.

Nifty Financial Services Ex-Bank index is down by 0.02%. All the other sectoral indices are in in green at this time. Nifty Auto index is the top gainer, up by 0.85%.

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are BEL, Eicher Motors, and Maruti. Top 3 loser are Infosys, HCL Tech and Wipro. Eicher Motors shares are up by 2% at this time. This after the company reported strong December sales. Infosys shares are down by 2.67% at this time. HCL shares are down by 2.22%.
