Nifty, Sensex start sharply in green; Tata Steel shares up by more than 2%
Indian equity markets have started the day sharply in green today, 12th December, 2025. At 9:35 a.m. IST, Nifty 50 is up by 132 points or 0.51%. Sensex is up by 430 points or 0.51%.
Metal stocks gaining
All the broad market indices are in green at this time. Volatility is also down. Nifty VIX index is down by 2.93%. Among sectoral indices, only Nifty IT index is in red this time. It is down by 0.10%. Nifty Metal Index is up by 1.60%. Many metal stocks are gaining today.

Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are Tata Steel, L&T and Hindalco. Top 3 losers at this time are Infosys, Wipro and Max Health. Tata Steel shares are up by 2.31% at this time. The stock is up today after the company announced its capacity expansion and capital expenditure plans.
Indigo’s shares are also gaining today. The stock is up by 1.28%. The company has announced that it will give Rs 10,000 worth travel vouchers each to passengers who were affected by its flight cancellations on 3rd, 4th and 5th December. The total cost of these vouchers for the company will be around Rs 500 crore. Indigo’s flight operations are also coming back on track.
