Indian equity markets have started the day in green today. At 9:35 a.m. 4th December, 2025, Nifty 50 is up by 22.95 points or 0.088%. Sensex is up by 78.91 points or 0.093%.
Top gainers & losers
Top 3 gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are TCS, Eicher Motors and JSW Steel. Top 3 losers are Indigo, Max Health and Hindustan Unilever. Indigo’s shares are down by 1.32% at this time. This, because of the large number of cancellations of Indigo flights in the past 2 days. The changed pilot rest period regulations of DGCA caused these cancellations.
IT stocks seeing some gains
IT stocks continue to gain today. Nifty IT index is the top gainer, among sectoral indices, at this time. It is up by 0.72%. IT companies may benefit from depreciation in rupee. They may also benefit from the expected interest rate cut by US Federal Reserve next week. Nifty Media index is the top loser among sectoral indices at this time. It is down by 0.85%.
Market breadth is positive at this time. At NSE, 1484 stocks are gaining at this time. 1147 stocks are declining. 15 stocks have touched 52-week high at NSE today, by this time. 125 stocks have touched 52-week low.
Markets may see some decline as the day progresses
Indian markets may see some decline as the day progresses. After the early gains, there is likely to be some selling pressure later in the day as market sentiments remain negative. This, due to the depreciation in rupee. A weakened rupee will adversely impact the performance of companies that use imported raw materials. Imports become more expensive when the rupee weakens against the dollar. The probability has also increased that RBI may keep interest rate unchanged in its monetary policy announcement tomorrow. Reducing interest rate may cause rupee to decline further against the dollar.
