Nifty, Sensex start the day in red

Indian equity benchmark indices, Nifty 50 and Sensex, have started the day in red today. Bharti Airtel and Titan shares are gaining after their September quarter result beat market expectations.
At 9:30 a.m. IST, Nifty 50 is down by 32.15 points or 0.13%. Sensex is down by 22.79 points or 0.027%.
Gainers & losers
Top gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are Bharti Airtel, Titan and Coal India. Top 3 losers at Nifty 50 at this time Tata Consumer Products, Power Grid and Eternal. Bharti Airtel’s shares are up by 2.83%, at Rs 2,132.70. Titan’s shares are up by 0.98% at Rs 3,760.90.
Both small cap and large cap stocks seeing some selling pressure
Small cap and large cap stocks are seeing selling pressure at this time. Nifty 100 index is down by 0.20%. Nifty Smallcap 50 index is down by 0.41%. Many auto stocks are seeing profit booking today after the gains of the past few days. Nifty Auto index is the top loser among sectoral indices at this time. It is down by 0.75%.
Nifty FMCG index is down by 0.47% as ITC shares see further profit booking. At this time, ITC’s shares are down by 0.29% at Rs 412.75. ITC has the highest weight in the Nifty 50 index.
Vodafone Idea shares gaining today after relief from Supreme Court
Gains seem to be muted at this time. Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom services index is the top gainer among sectoral indices at this time. It is up by 0.25%. This is mainly because of the gains that Vodafone Idea shares are seeing today. At this time, Vodafone Idea’s share price is up by 1.47%, trading at Rs 9.68. Vodafone Idea has 5.80% weight in Nifty Midsmall IT & Telecom index. The company’s stock is gaining today after the Supreme Court ruled in its favor yesterday. The Court accepted Vodafone Idea’s plea that its entire AGR dues, worth Rs 84,200 crore, should be reviewed by the government. The government also agreed to this in the court.
Market breadth is negative at this time. At NSE, 1299 stocks are gaining. 1321 stocks are declining.
