Indian benchmark equity indices have started the day marginally in red today, 13th November, 2025. At 9:35 a.m. IST, Nifty 50 is down by 4.65 points or 0.018%. Sensex is down by 27.05 points or 0.032%. Markets may see gains as the day progresses. India’s retail price inflation in October stood at 0.25% on annual basis. This is the lowest level of retail inflation in 7 years. Food inflation turned negative at -5.02%. The low inflation rate has raised the probability of RBI going for an interest rate cut in its December monetary policy meeting.

Market expectations of volatility down today

Market expectations of volatility has come down further today. Nifty VIX index is down by 1.11% at this time. There is a bit of selling pressure right now in some large cap stocks. Nifty Metal Index is the top gainer, among sectoral indices, at this time. It is up by 1.34%. This, as Tata Steel shares gain today. At this time, Tata Steel shares are up by 1.72%, trading at Rs 181.68. The company posted its September quarter result yesterday. Its result beat expectations. Its consolidated net profit in the quarter increased year-on-year by 272% to Rs 3,102 crore.

Nifty IT index is the top loser among sectoral indices, at this time. It is down by 0.63%. Nifty FMCG index is down by 0.40%.

Top gainers & losers

Top three gainers at Nifty 50 at this time are Asian Paint, Tata Steel and Hindalco. Top three losers are Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (TMCV), ONGC and Infosys. TMCV shares are seeing profit booking today after the gains of yesterday.

Market breadth is positive at this time. 1571 stocks are gaining at NSE. 1112 stocks are declining. 50 stocks have touched 52-week high at NSE, by this time. 41 stocks have touched 52-week low.
